The core focus in Holistic Grazing is to ensure that as far as possible our actions, policies and projects are socially, environmentally and economically sound and do not lead to unintended consequences.
This sounds like a simple enough concept but in reality it is the balancing of a complex mosaic of competing issues. Our tunnel vision on the easily measured economic indicators such as dollars per hectare needs to be expanded to encompass the wider social and environmental consequences as well.
At the grass roots level our focus is to convert sunlight into productive and sustainable pastures. This can only be achieved by our graziers understanding and nurturing the symbiotic relationships developed over millions of years of co-evolution between grazing animals, pastures and soil microbes.
By gaining this understanding of these relationships, grazing animals and those who manage them, can become a significant part of the solution to Global Warning, instead of being a part of the problem.
