GOLF & BOWLING GREENS, PARKS & GARDENS

The turf grass industry more than most has felt the full impact of water restrictions, excessive rainfall and economic constraints over recent years. Turf managers are constantly being challenged to meet new environmental, social and economic demands of governance.

Lismore Workers Golf Club has risen to meet some of these challenges where superintendents Chris Hazleton and Robbie McGuiness under very testing weather conditions have dramatically reduced their chemical fungicide usage. Chris and Robbie over the past three years have persisted with the application of “brewed” microbial inoculants and molasses, together with PandA a bio-stimulant that increases root growth and aids disease suppression. Moso BioChar is also applied during Spring renovations to reduce nutrient leaching and to provide protection for the microbial inoculants and indigenous bacteria and fungi community.  (See photo - Moso BioChar applied after coring).

O'Grady Rural along with golf course superintendents, green keepers and other turf grass managers are building up experience in this relatively new approach to improve soil health and regeneration.
